Maaemo

Maaemo
Maaemo is hyped, but rightly so. It is the first restaurant in the Nordic region to be awarded two Michelin stars in one go. The restaurant focuses on organic, seasonal and locally grown produce. You’ll never know what an onion really tastes like until you’ve had one here. The flavors are 1,000 times more intense.

Ylajali

Ylajali
More popular than Maaemo, and a Michelin star to boot. Chef Evenings Ramsvik lays on four hours of pure delight.

Bon Lío
Oslo’s only gastro tapas bar – a concept derived from the financial crisis in Spain when gourmet restaurants were forced to reinvent themselves and cater to ordinary people. Bon Lío offers a small bar menu or the “full pupp” 10-12 tapas – every single one of which melts in your mouth. The constantly changing menu features such delights as red king crab “sausage” in banh mi. One of Oslo’s best bartenders, Waldemar, meanwhile offers a full pairing menu – just make sure you have nothing planned the next day.

Klosteret Restaurant.

Klosteret Restaurant
In the somewhat overlooked neighborhood of Fredensborg in the center of Oslo, Klosteret (“The Convent”) quietly plies its trade in a candle-lit basement, combining a French-inspired menu with seasonal Norwegian ingredients. If you feel like scallops, but require a foie gras fix as well, this is the place. It also has one of Oslo’s best wine lists.

Le Benjamin Bar & Bistro

Le Benjamin Bar & Bistro
This is about as close to the 9th arrondissement of Paris as Oslo gets. Those in the trade come here on their night off for the sort of unpretentious, if uncompromising, French food that puts a smile on your face. It’s one of the few places in town where you can get a whole Camembert flambé for dessert. It doesn’t get any better than this.
