Six fantastic Copenhagen restaurants with a view

There’s something to be said for seeing things from above. A familiar city can look very different and the conversation flows more freely with a bird’s eye view. At these six restaurants, you can enjoy both fine dining and impressive views – without breaking the bank.

Restaurant Silo

This brand-new restaurant in Nordhavn offers an excellent range of delicious food without the hefty gourmet price tag. Lunch is available for DKr90–175, while a four-course evening menu can be had for DKr425. That’s even with the French-Nordic cuisine being prepared by such high-profile guys as Denny Vangsted, formerly of Kong Hans, Gorilla and Nimb, to name but a few, and Morten Falk, previously head chef at Kadeau. The view from Silo’s enormous panoramic windows on the 17th floor is unequaled and the transformation of the building from a run-down industrial silo into a funky, futuristic place is something of an architectural achievement. A change very much for the better.

Sticks'n'Sushi, Tivolihotellet

With its combination of sushi and yakitori sticks taken from Japanese street food, Sticks ‘n’ Sushi has been a roaring success. Since its launch in 1994, the Danish family-owned business has gone from strength to strength and today has 20 different restaurants in Copenhagen, London and Berlin. Each restaurant has its own unique look, but if you’re judging by the view, then the one at the Tivoli Hotel is a winner. Here on the 12th floor, you can sip cocktails, indulge in beautifully presented Japanese delicacies and stand with a view of the capital way beneath your feet.

MASH Penthouse, Tivolihotellet

MASH Penthouse is the Tivoli Hotel’s other restaurant and at MASH they take their steak seriously. In fact, it’s one of the few places outside Japan where you can taste some of that exclusive and fabled Kobe beef. There are also plenty of fabulous cuts of meat from Uruguay, America and Denmark, as well as fine wines and excellent cocktails to complement a view from the 12th floor here at the Tivoli Hotel that you’ll struggle to beat.

Tårnet, Christiansborg

Until a few years ago, this tower contained a store room for the Danish parliament. Then they had the great idea of creating a restaurant instead and in 2014 Bojesen i Tårnet opened, with Rasmus Bo Bojesen at the helm. At Bojesen, you can indulge yourself in Danish cuisine and excellent pastries as you enjoy the views across old Copenhagen from a height of 106m. The friezes and sculptures in Tårnet are some of the hidden treasures that were found when the store room was cleared out.

Trio i Axel Towers

There are exquisite views and a cool urban atmosphere in the new Trio restaurant on the 10th floor of Axel Towers, which is run by the same people who are behind the 2-star Michelin restaurant AOC and little brother bistro, no. 2. Trio is a gourmet experience somewhere between AOC and no. 2 and a six-course menu can be had for around DKr600. There’s a cocktail bar on the floor below, where as well as drinks and snacks you can also order from the restaurant’s menu and so enjoy the best of both worlds – including a panoramic view of downtown Copenhagen.
